Welcome Ashlyn Green - New Head Girls Basketball Coach

🏀 Help us welcome Ashlyn Green as our new GHS Head Girls Basketball Coach!🏀

With over a decade of coaching experience, Ashlyn steps into this role ready to make a significant impact on our athletes and our program.

Throughout her coaching career, Ashlyn has played a pivotal role in developing competitive teams and strengthening the fundamentals of the game. She has successfully served as a Varsity Assistant, Junior Varsity Head Coach, and Middle School Head Coach gaining invaluable insights into coaching at all levels. Her four year experience as a collegiate player adds to her rich understanding of the sport.

In her most recent position as a Varsity Assistant at Lewisville High School, Ashlyn helped lead a successful program that garnered multiple All-District honors, including First Team, Second Team, Honorable Mention, and Academic All-District recognitions. Besides basketball, she has also contributed to the Track program, helping athletes achieve Area, Regional, and State appearances.

Ashlyn is passionate about fostering a program rooted in grit, family, and excellence. She emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and a "family-first" culture, ensuring that every athlete feels supported both on and off the court.

“I am thrilled about my first year at Gainesville High School and am committed to mentoring and encouraging all athletes to excel in sports and education while fostering their confidence, leadership, and character development. I look forward to building a program that Gainesville High School and the community will be proud of,” says Ashlyn.

Ashlyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Angelo State University.

Coach Misty Mills

Gainesville High School is excited to announce that Coach Misty Mills will transition into the role of Head Girls Soccer Coach.

Coach Mills joined Gainesville ISD during the 2024–2025 school year and has served as Assistant Girls Soccer Coach, Junior High Girls Soccer Coach, and most recently Interim Head Girls Soccer Coach later in the season.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Mills is an occupational therapist at GISD, with 23 years of experience in the profession, including 21 years in the school setting. Coaching has also been an important part of her life for more than 15 years, including nine years at the junior high and high school levels. In 2017, she started the girls soccer program at Graham High School and was named District Coach of the Year in 2023.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Coach Mills shared, “Building on the strong foundation already in place, and after meeting with the returning varsity players to hear their goals for the upcoming season and beyond, the focus for next season will be Accountability and Commitment—all year, from offseason to game day. My goal is to guide these young women to take ownership, compete every day, and represent the program with the standards we have set—on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.”

Shon Adams Head Coach

In addition to welcoming new Head Volleyball Coach Brandy Bolton, Gainesville High School has filled additional head coaching positions through internal leadership transitions.

Coach Shon Adams will transition into the role of Head Boys Basketball Coach while continuing his responsibilities as Director of Athletic Facilities. The upcoming season will mark Coach Adams’ ninth year as a head basketball coach.

Most recently, Coach Adams served as Head Girls Basketball Coach for the Lady Leopards, stepping into the role midway through the 2023–2024 season, and leading that team to a playoff appearance.

Before returning to Gainesville, Coach Adams spent five years as Head Boys Basketball Coach at All Saints Episcopal School, where he guided the program to the TAPPS 5A State Semifinals in his fourth season. During that time, he also served as Offensive Coordinator, helping the football program earn two SPC Football State Championships.

Coach Adams’ journey has come full circle as he returns to lead the program where his basketball career began. A 1991 graduate of Gainesville High School, he was the starting point guard for the Leopards and a member of the 1989-1990 team, which was the first GHS team to advance to the UIL State Basketball Tournament.

Welcome Brandy Bolton - New Head Volleyball Coach

Gainesville ISD is pleased to announce Brandy Bolton as the new Head Volleyball Coach for the Lady Leopards, beginning with the 2026–2027 school year.

Coach Bolton brings a strong background in both high school and collegiate volleyball, along with extensive club coaching experience. Most recently, she coached for two years in the Byron Nelson High School volleyball program, contributing to a state championship‑winning team and a National Championship program.

Bolton also served as Director of Operations and Assistant Coach for the University of North Texas volleyball program from 2021–2022, where she gained valuable experience in collegiate‑level expectations, program management, and athlete development. In addition, she worked as the Middle School Coordinator and Upper School Assistant Coach at Fort Worth Country Day, playing a key role in program development and athlete progression across multiple levels.

Beyond the school setting, Bolton has been a head coach in club volleyball for more than seven years, working with a wide range of age groups and competitive levels while emphasizing skill development, discipline, and high‑level performance.
